Frequently Asked Questions

We are known for our innovative, groundbreaking content and approach. We are loved for our work on disrupting anti-Black racism and antiracist math instruction. We’ve also been killing it in our antiracist consultation with shifts in culture, policy and praxis.
P.S. Our PDs and workshops are fondly appreciated by teachers because they’re fun and actually useful.

We offer better! We are anti-oppression practitioners. Diversity, equity, and inclusion often fail because those efforts continue to center whiteness by simply “allowing” us into the spaces as they are. Antiracist and abolitionist work seeks to dismantle oppressive systems and build anew to strategically shift power.
-
While disrupting racism and oppression often falls in the sidelines of priorities, it’s actually one of the most impactful starting points for what we typically perceive as our most prominent issues: Grade and suspension disparities; escalating racism locally and nationwide; intentionally and unintentionally harmful policies; BIPOC teacher burnout, etc… have racialized impacts and are informed by race. Trying to meet school goals without addressing the issues most harming our students of Color is dehumanizing and unethical.
-
Not only are we fun, we are actually helpful. Whether we’re leading PD or consulting on a project, we are true problem solvers who thrive in the intersections of creativity and practical usefulness. We also have an impressive talent for shifting oppressive power structures and making significant shifts in culture.
-
We live in a racialized society, and every person is impacted by racism. We often assume that white people don’t need antiracist work because they are not victims of racism; yet, educators hold the responsibility of teaching white students to navigate race and racism in ways that disrupt oppression rather than uphold it.
-
Both! We offer nationwide online services and some local services in-person.
-
No. We mostly work with schools, districts and counties as well as organizations with educational efforts. We also support organizations that want to disrupt oppression in their space.
